Glorious New Beginning at Grasshopper FC’s Exit

Venue: Padang Setia Alam
Date: 17 March 2012 (Saturday)

LIGA FUNTASTICO 2012-QUARTER FINAL. The Grasshoppers were shown exit to the tournament as they were trashed heavily by New Beginning 7-2 in the quarter final clash between them which draw a serious question to the tournament’s organizer – Planet Football – ‘s decision.

The match was scheduled to start at 315pm and GFC players flooded the field since 230pm to show their commitment and desire to perform in this match. Sadly that even at 330pm, not even ONE player nor representative of NB’s team were there at the field. According to rule, the match shall walk-over after 15 minutes of scheduled-kick-off time has passed.

While GFC has already question the situation, the match coordinator insisted to get the team to the field and start the match. And when NB arrived at 355pm, they should already be too late for the match. The match was later kicked off at 405pm.

This is a clearly UNFAIR decision to GFC team as a whole which already committed to the organiser’s schedule and yet been treated in such a way that indicated that any team can come at any time as they wish and still be allowed to play without having to stick to the schedule.

The game was ON as per organiser’s instruction, and GFC were struggled to adapt to a culture shock in term of match style of NB, which played differently to other local opponent’s GFC ever had before. This team which consist of 100% African players, played at different tempo and approach, and by the first half whistle blown, NB are comfortably ahead with 3-0 scoreline.

Their attack from wings were failed to be shielded by the system GFC were playing, and that has affected the central defenses also which saw the NB were easily through to the goal.

Nothing changed in the beginning of second half when 2 more goals conceded by GFC. However, the Grasshoppers showed a glimpse of come back when they manage to score twice in quick succession. But that improvement did not last for long when suddenly Rashmizan (Kechik) was involved in an unseen-off-the-ball incident where his hand was cruelly stepped (suspected unintended) and he suffered heavy pain.

That hiccup blown away GFC’s momentum and New Beginning begun restoring their authority to the game with 2 more goals to secure a huge victory 7-2 in this quarter final match. Congratulation to New Beginning for their achievement.

GFC in the other hand paid this match expensively when losing the game while the initial rule should have granted them a win, and losing another FAS League player to the serious hand injury.

The organizer is expected to play a better and fairer role in such circumstances.
